Happy Monday!
Today, I got to do one of my favorite activities…tracking our thinking!! Since I only do short mini-lessons most days, we didn’t spend a TON of time on it. But they loved it. My room was SILENT…they were working so hard using post its to track their thinking! First, we talked about our anchor chart and the symbols we would use.
I did some modeling with Enemy Pie (we only read the first few pages. We are actually going to work on predicting before we finish it.) After I modeled, they practiced with books from their book boxes. I didn’t get too many good pictures…story of my life!! 🙂
They really did a great job! Super proud of them! Last week, we practiced retelling a story using time words. They made this little foldable retelling one of their favorite books. I think allowing them to choose their book made it about 10x more engaging! I modeled with Homer, and some of my babies still chose to do that book. It worked out perfectly, because the ones that needed more scaffolding just kind of did it anyway.
You can grab that foldable by clicking on any of the pictures! 🙂 We also worked on map skills. After they were pretty good about using directional words, they made a treasure map and wrote directions for how to get to the treasure. They LOVED it.
