Volunteer Opportunities
I’ve been trying to stay focused on getting ready for school, but a very close friend passed away this week. He was the greatest man I have EVER known. You can read more about him here.
He gave his life helping people. I went to see him in 2nd grade when my parents were going through a custody battle. Since then, he became far more than a counselor to my family. He taught me SO much, and my entire family is better for him. He gave so much of his time volunteering…he even counseled hundreds (maybe thousands) of people for free…he only expected you to pay what you could. All week I have been thinking about how to honor him…volunteering has been on my heart a lot lately, and I think it’s the perfect way to remember him. Here are some things I’ve been thinking about. I hope you will check them out too!
I think you can tell that kiddos are my passion. 🙂 There are SO many other ways to volunteer that include animals, the elderly, the homeless, the environment! I would LOVE to know if you volunteer anywhere, and your experiences. 🙂
One last thing, I KNOW that so many of us pour our hearts out to our babies in our classroom. Some of us work with kiddos in such poverty, we use our own money to buy their supplies, lunch, clothes, and so much more. You should be SO proud of all your do every single day in your classroom. I know that Doug was proud of every teacher in his life…including his beautiful wife! I hope these next few weeks are FULL of love, laughter, and time with your family and loved ones.
