Ready for the First Day
Hi friends!! ๐ I can’t believe it’s time for Year 6 to start tomorrow. I am SO excited about this year. I have some amazing kiddos, a fabulous team, and I feel super energized and ready to go! I wanted to spend a few minutes and share a few freebies with you that I prepared for the first day! ๐
Here’s a few pictures of my classroom. I haven’t done a full “photo shoot” yet! My walls are super bare…I did that intentionally. I’m hoping that the calm, clean look will lead to calm 6 year olds hhahahah!! But for real…I do think that a chaotic room with chaotic walls can make our little ones feel a little chaotic on the inside. I’m excited to add anchor charts and thier work to our walls soon!
The alphabet is my Colorful Alphabet you can find here!
After reading Teach Like a Champion, we are using SLANT as a schoo-wide expectation. I think it’s a fabulous system for teaching our students what listening and thinking looks like! I’m hoping to blog more baout that in the future!
Each desk has a coloring sheet, and a review page from my First Days packet.
Here are some coloring pages in case you want to use them! Just click the picture to grab your copy!
I also wanted to make sure that the rest of my school family had a great first day! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know that I was inspired by Step into Second Grade and Smitten with First to share a little kindness with our school staff!
This morning, I went to Target and grabbed some snacks and drinks for everyone to enjoy during this first week!
It’s okay if no one says thank you…that’s not why we do acts of kindness. We do them to put a smile on someone’s face and in the hope that they will do the same for someone else. I challenge all my blog readers to do something kind for one of thier coworkers. You won’t regret it…I promise! ๐ If you want to do the same thing, feel free to use this little graphic!
Finally, I wanted to share my plans with you! The first week, I plan each day super, SUPER detailed. I usually do it the day before…not the whole week through because everything is constantly changing! I figured I would share those with you in case anyone was wondering “What can I possibly do during the 1st day of 1st grade?!!” All the activities I listed are in my First Days packet.
