"students across the US will soon have time off school for Thanksgiving and be inundated by media and marketing related to the holiday, so being prepared with a culturally responsive approach is important. One way to discuss Thanksgiving that will be meaningful to your students -whether or not they’ll be tucking into a turkey dinner- is to share books that expand upon some of the universal themes the holiday evokes.” (from 2017)
Today is one of my very favorite days of the year! To celebrate World Kindness Day you can grab my Kindness Lessons for ⭐️FREE⭐️ in my TPT store! How will you celebrate with your students??! Let us know below...it might just give someone else an idea 😘
Raise your hand if you told your students to say “thank you” or “be appreciative” without any further explanation. ✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻 I know I have! After lots of reflection and conversation, I realized my students didn’t really know what it meant to have a grateful heart. Saying “thank you” was something they did out of habit, but didn’t truly understand the meaning! That’s why I decided to include Gratitude in my Character Education curriculum! I want my students to be appreciative of everything they have, and understand that being grateful is more than just a few words! It’s in the way we respond and our actions too! My favorite teaching point is someone with a grateful heart doesn’t constantly ask for more! Now is the perfect time to introduce these lessons, but they can be taught all year long!
