A Few Winter Bulletin Boards

Hi friends! Are you on Winter break too?!?! I’m kind of surprised we made it, hahah!! These last few weeks have been a WHIRLWIND!
Here’s the things we had going on
-Winter Literacy Night
-Fountas and Pinnell Testing
-Math MOY Assessments
-Report Cards
-Unit Assessments in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, AND Social Studies
-Class Parties
-2 New Babies in Class
-Parent Gifts
-Book Fair
It was ALOT!! 🙂 I’m happy to say that my 2 new babies are fitting in just perfectly and we are DONE with MOY testing! They were seriously tested out! In the midst of all this, we had our Winter Literacy Night and I wanted to fill out hallways with cute activities they could show their parents!
First, we did this Snowman Glyph from my friend Jennifer at First Grade Blue Skies! They had SOO much fun!
I am seriously impressed with how horrible my photography skills are, hahaha! After we finished our glyphs, they made bar graphs to show the data! Super fun! They just walked around with clipboards, tallied the info and then created a simple bar graph. 🙂
After that, it was time for a little writing and crafting! They completed 2 writing assignments and then got to make crafts to go with each. 🙂
In Writing, we have been working hard on Writing Reviews. Definitely not my favorite unit to teach, and I don’t think it was theirs either, haha. BUT they had lots of fun writing about their favorite Winter Activity. They did a little prewriting and then transferred it to our writing paper. 🙂
After they were done, I let them paint their favorite winter activity. SO fun and they did a fabulous job!!
After that, we watched a Bookflix of Snowflake Bentley. IT’s SO cute! I had never shown it before this year, but it will be a winter staple from now on!
He studied snowflakes, and was the first one to realize each snowflake is different. 🙂 Then they did a little brainstorming about how they are unique and wrote about it! It was a great vocab lesson for the word unique too! 🙂

After they were done they cut out snowflakes. I didn’t spend a lot of time on HOW to do this, hahaha. You can tell by the snowflakes that really just look like symmetry monsters. 🙂
You can grab both of the writing pages for free by clicking the image! 🙂
